Weird Sightings in NC

Boot Barn, Dress Barn why not Hair Barn? Makes sense to me.

I'm wondering how long they put up with people walking in ready to order pizza before they added the "Chinese Food" sign?

Weird Sightings in NC

As promised... this vending machine dispenses live fish and worms in bags to use as fishing bait... Another reason why we live in NC!

BTW... Butcher, I totally thought of you when i saw this!

Weird Sightings in NC

Kelley and I have decided to start posting strange or weird sighting in NC. Some of these are funny but most, we have come to realize, are considered normal here in the south but we find them very strange.

This sign was located between 2 coke fountain drink dispensers. I thought it was a little odd, but apparently in the south you have to be told not to spit.

Brooke pointed this out at Target. I can't believe their management doesn't catch this. If it doesn't make sense to a 6 year old, something's not right.

More to come including a vending machine that dispenses fish and worms?
The South = Awesome!

PRO Black Friday

So, after reading many articles and blogs on Black Friday today, I have decided to take a stand and say that the Stopnik Family is... PRO Black Friday! Here are our reasons...

1) We are a family of 5 living on a one income budget and this "one and only day" of the year has in the past allowed us to buy that video camera that we have always wanted to record our kid's births, birthdays and first Christmas' when we would have not be able to afford it. We got that $800 video camera for $500, a fraction of the cost any other day of the year.
2) I can stock up on clothing items for $.97 each at Children's Place, Carter's, Osh Kosh, Old Navy, etc... for our three rapidly growing (or should I say out growing) kids. I couldn't even make my own clothing for that price.
3) And my final reason is... any place that is not a retail store is empty. So, go out to dinner with your family and enjoy one another.

We are so BLESSED to live in America! That we even disagree on whether or not we should shop for that flat screen television on Black Friday or not makes people in other parts of the world green with envy.

I am all for living within your means; I wish I had a laptop, a wii, an iPod and a nice pair of knee high boots, but I just can't afford it. So, I say to you, shop for what you need or have saved up for on Black Friday. Score some great deals on clothing for next summer, bathing suits, pajamas and winter coats (they out grow them every year) and your kids will thank you for it when you have saved enough extra money so you can go to Disneyland for Christmas! We are so there! I will post pictures! God Bless!

Britton Paying Homage to "the King"

Britton and I stopped by Petty Enterprises for his first NASCAR shop experience. This was especially exciting for him because this is "The King" Richard Petty's shop. He has no idea who Richard Petty is but in Britt's favorite movie, Cars, the blue car is called "the King" and is supposed to be Richard Petty. He was so excited to see a real race car up close. He's been around others, but i think now that he's older he understands them better and thinks it is really cool.

We stopped by during lunch, so no one was really working. Also, it's the end of the season so there is not a lot going on. During the season there would be 10 or so cars being built at all times. Look how clean it is...

This is a race motor. It puts out about 800 horsepower for hundreds of miles.

This is the King's Car... Actually its Richard Petty's son Kyle but it's blue and Britt thought it was his, so that's good enough for me.

We were only there a few minutes but it was very fun to see how excited he was. Next we'll finish up all the shops around my work (Dale JR, Kasey Kahne and a few others) then we'll go to the other side of Mooresville for the rest. Eventually we'll end up at Tony Stewart's new shop where hopefully we can get Britton to meet Tony!

We're Home!

We made it home today around 1pm. Jude and Kelley are doing great. Jude has a bit of jaundice but the doctors think he should be good to fight it on his own. He has an appointment with his doctor on Friday to get checked again. He is eating like crazy and starting to open his eyes to look around. We'll post some pics of him coming home tomorrow. Tonight aught to be interesting with no nurses to call to take him into the nursery! Thanks for all your calls, emails and prayers. They mean a lot!

Kelley's Update

Hi Everyone. Thanks so much for reading our new baby blog. Last night went really well. Jude is really getting the hang of breastfeeding and we had an awesome nurse that really helped us alot. It is amazing how much work having a little one is even when you've done it before. The feedings every two hours through the night get very tiring. Other then that everyone is doing great.

Thanks to the Bennetts for sending Jude this happy birthday tribute

I just thought this was appropriate

Introducing!

Introducing:
Jude Hudson Stopnik

19 3/4 inches
6:45am

Alright... We're about to start to push... She some how got to 10cm and there getting ready to start to push... stay tuned...

We're hanging in there. Kelley's starting to fall asleep a little but her contractions have started to pick up a little so thats good. They haven't checked her in awhile and they wont until her contractions a strong and steady.

Alrighty... Still waiting... Kelley got an epidural then they broke her water. Good times... Shes still at 6cm so they started pitosin to get the contractions going stronger. Dr. Chu came in and said hi and is hanging out. Shes certain that the baby should be soon. Lets hope! Kelleys in great spirits. Brooke is a little scared to see Mommy with all the tubes but she still says she wants to be in the room. All is well...

So we're moving slowly... Kelleys now at 6cm and still walking around. The grand parents all made it here in plenty of time so now we're just hanging out waiting. Getting hungry. Kelley is doing laps in the room. Thats all... We'll update in a while when she gets checked again. We're now hoping that her water breaks so we can get this deal going! She's also planning on getting an epidural when she gets to 7cm.

Also... Leave comments! we're gotten several calls that friends are reading the blog so leave comments!

Still waiting

Its 11:50pm and we're waiting for the nurse to check her again. She should be in to check in a bit. The grand parents have arrived in DEN and amazingly enough, both groups (kelleys Mom Dad & sister and Blairs Mom) got on flights at the same time, landed at the same time and accidentally met up on the train going to baggage claim. Crazy... I'll update again when she's checked again. Last time she was checked (9pm) she was 5cm and stationed zero. the babys ready to go!

Baby Time!

We're one step in the right direction. We went to the Hospital after lunch today and as of now 7pm they have decided to keep her. So far her contractions have gotten a lot stronger but she is dilating slowly. As long as she continues to progress we should be seeing this baby by morning. Keep us in your prayers! We'll just be walking around doing laps! Our room is huge and the hospital is pretty new and nice. Kelley's parents and my Mom are on there way now and should be here in a couple of hours. Brittons spending the night at his friend Owen's House (thank you Woody's) and Brookes going to stay here and wait it out. We'll be updating this blog somewhat often.
